Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Athrun, an AI-powered automotive diagnostic assistant operated by Caelus Labs ("Athrun," "we," "us"), available as a mobile app and at driveathrun.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Safety & "not professional advice"

Athrun is an informational tool, not a professional mechanic. Its diagnostic suggestions are generated by AI and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong. They are not a substitute for inspection, diagnosis, or repair by a qualified, licensed automotive professional.

Do not rely on Athrun for any safety-critical decision. Vehicle inspection and repair can be hazardous. Always confirm with a professional before performing repairs, driving a vehicle you suspect is unsafe, or relying on any code, part, or recommendation surfaced by the Service. You use the Service and act on its output at your own risk.

2. The Service

Athrun helps everyday vehicle owners understand their cars — through AI diagnostic chat, a trouble-code library, a parts finder, a nearby-services locator, a community forum, and a vehicle stats tracker. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You can use many features anonymously. If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms;
Post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, infringing, deceptive, or otherwise harmful;
Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others;
Use the Service to build a competing dataset or to violate the terms of our third-party providers.

5. Community content

You retain ownership of what you post in the community. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the Service. You're responsible for your contributions and confirm you have the right to post them.

We may, but are not obligated to, monitor community content. We may hide or remove content and restrict or suspend accounts — for example, content that is flagged, trips our filters, or violates these terms. The community forum requires sign-in and is subject to moderation.

6. Third-party listings, services, and links

The Service surfaces information from third parties — for example, parts listings from eBay, and nearby businesses from mapping data. We don't control, endorse, or guarantee these.

Parts fitment is estimated. Compatibility shown for a part is an estimate. Always confirm fit (for example, by VIN on the listing) before purchasing. Purchases are transactions between you and the seller or eBay, under their terms.
Nearby businesses are listed for convenience and are not recommendations or endorsements. We're not responsible for any service you obtain from them.
Third-party sites and services have their own terms and privacy practices, which govern your use of them.

7. Affiliate links

Some links in the Service — including parts results — are affiliate links. If you click through and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This doesn't change the price you pay.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding your content and third-party content), is owned by Caelus Labs and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION, CODE DESCRIPTION, PART, OR RECOMMENDATION WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAELUS LABS AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF — OR INABILITY TO USE — THE SERVICE, OR FROM ANY REPAIR, PURCHASE, OR DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON IT.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $100.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Caelus Labs from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas for any dispute not otherwise subject to an alternative process.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we'll provide more prominent notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
