About Athrun
Your car communicates in trouble codes, warning lights and noises that rarely mean anything to the person paying the repair bill. Athrun is the translator. Describe a symptom, paste a code straight off an OBD-II scanner, or ask a question in your own words, and Athrun tells you what it means, how urgent it is, and what your realistic options are — before you set foot in a shop.
Why we built it
Most car owners face the same two bad choices when a light comes on: guess, or hand over the keys and hope the estimate is fair. The information needed to make a good decision exists, but it’s scattered across forums, manufacturer bulletins and dense repair manuals written for technicians. That knowledge gap is where money gets wasted — on repairs that weren’t needed, or on small problems left alone until they turned into big ones.
Athrun exists to close that gap. We take the same diagnostic reasoning a good technician applies and put it in front of the owner, in language anyone can follow, so you walk into the conversation already knowing roughly what you’re dealing with.

How it works with your car
Athrun runs in any browser and pairs with any standard OBD-II scanner — the port every car sold in the US has carried since 1996. You don’t need special equipment to start: a symptom described in a sentence is enough. If you do have a scanner, the codes it reads plug straight in for a more specific answer. No account is required to begin, and Athrun is also available as a free app on iPhone and Android.

Athrun is built by Caelus Labs LLC, an independent software company. We’re not a dealership, a parts retailer or a repair chain, and we don’t earn more when you spend more on a repair — which is exactly why we can tell you when a problem can wait, or when it’s something you can handle yourself.
A note on what Athrun is — and isn’t
Athrun gives you well-reasoned, plain-English information to understand your vehicle and make a confident decision. It is not a substitute for a hands-on inspection by a qualified mechanic, and it can’t see or touch your car the way a technician can. For anything involving your safety on the road — brakes, steering, or a problem that feels dangerous — treat Athrun as a well-informed starting point, and get a professional to confirm before you rely on it.
